About NGL
The Launch
The No Greater Love Community Building Outreach concert event was organized to bring people of the faith community together annually, to give their support to designated non-profit organizations that provide life-sustaining assistance for persons in the Greater Houston Area. With the help of former District Superintendent, Lawrence Young, of the Central South District, U.M.C., The first No Greater Love Community Building Outreach Concert was launched Palm Sunday, April 17, 2011, at First Methodist Houston Westchase. Many gifted vocalists, musicians, and volunteers, supported this vision with their gifts and talents. The generous hospitality of First UMC Houston Westchase, and the benevolence of concert attendees, provided monetary and tangible donations to three local charities.
Serving The Community
Because of the success of the event and community response, NGL lead another community building concert, Palm Sunday, April 17, 2012, at H.O.P.E Church of Pearland. Concert attendees and participants brought non-perishable food items, school supplies, layette items for newborns at Lyndon B Johnson General Hospital (LBJ), as well as bereavement clothing for still born infants or newborns, wraps and toiletries for moms who are homeless or incarcerated. The response to the concert in the outpouring of love and radical hospitality, continues to drive NGL to hold more events that encourage service, community building, and partnering.
