Bio
Karen Zellers Sevier is a classically trained vocalist and pianist withmany years of experience in music, dance, and theatre. Karen wasintroduced to theatrical performances through Encore Theatre in theproduction Shout Hallelujah, written, directed, and produced, by founderHarold J. Haynes. Other theatrical performances include Ain’tMisbehavin’ and It Ain’t Over Til The Fat Lady Sings (starring role).Karen toured with the stage production, Stop Cheatin' On Gods Time,featuring the late Sean Levert, son of Eddie Levert of the O’Jays andMen At Large. and Praise The Lord and Raise The Roof, playwright Celeste Bedford Walker.
In 2007, Karen was invited to perform the National Anthem for theHouston Comets game. She was the 2008 Houston winner of the Women Making A Powerful Difference Through Song Contest presented byEbony/Jet Magazine and the makers of Pine-Sol, and was highlighted inboth Ebony and Jet Magazine, as well as Readers Digest, and Working Mother to name a few. Karen was invited as a guest performer to singThe National Anthem for The State Firemen's & Fire Marshal'sConference and Convention, Houston Fire Department Memorials,Cadet Graduations, National Honoree and Valor Banquet. In 2010,Karen was the featured worship leader and soloist at the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Karen also serves as Event Committee Chairperson and Vocal Director for the Encore Theater. She is also the Vocal Director for Exalted Art Theater. She is currently serving as the Music Director at Covenant GlenUnited Methodist Church.
Karen is the wife of Ronald Lee Sevier. They have two daughters. She isthe daughter of Ina Kirksey Zellers and Matthew Marshall Zellers(Patsy). She lives her life based on the scripture Jeremiah 29:11, whichinspired the song, "I Live To Worship You". She believes that no matterwhom you are, where you are, how young or how old, no matter theplace in life you may be, no matter how tough the battle, no matter howdeep the hurt, God has not forgotten you.
